Plateau NLC Gets New Chairman
The Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) Plateau State Chapter held its elective convention, Thursday 25th April, 2019 at Hill Station Hotels Conference Hall Jos, Plateau State.
While other positions were unopposed, the Chairmanship Post was keenly contested by three Candidates.
Cmr. Eugene Manji Plateau State Council Chairman of the Amalgamated Union of Public Corporations, Civil Service Technical and Recreational Service Employees (AUPCTRE) won the State Chairmanship and returned elected having scored the highest votes totalling 221 to defeat his other opponents, Cmr. Francis Izang of RATTAWU who scored 151 votes and Cmr. Lohna J. Samson of NASU who pulled 34 votes.
Other Executives elected unopposed were:
-Cmr. Samson Mafuyai – Vice Chairman
-Cmr. Sunday Akinfolarin – Vice Chairman
-Cmr. John S. Shirbe – Treasurer
-Cmr. Ayuba Gana – Auditor
-Cmr. Yushua Muhammed – Auditor
-Cmr. Katherine Dung – Ex Officio
-Cmr. Nelly Amamma James – Ex Officio.
407 delegates participated in the elective convention which was adjudged free, fair and credible.
The newly elected Chairman who was immediately sworn in appreciated the delegates for finding him worthy, promised to carry all along and pursue the welfare of members in more constructive manner.
He admonished members to accord them supports and work collectively to succeed all through their tenure.
Cmr. Eugene is taking over from Cmr. Jibrin Bancir whose tenure expired and was appointed the Special Adviser to the Plateau State Governor on Labour Matters with Chief Comrade Gunshin Yarlings who was the Acting Chairman until the formal handing over.
