Unknown gunmen have attacked Miango district of Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau state, killing three persons while two others are missing with Cattles rustled.

This was confirmed in a press release issued by the Police Public Relations Officer of the Plateau State Command, DSP Tyopev Matthias Terna, on Tuesday, a copy which was sent to acenews online.

The statement reads in part:
“The Plateau State Police Command, Jos received an information on 29/04 /2019 at about 0800hrs to the effect that unknown gunmen attacked Maiyanga area of Miango District as a result, one Jummai Jah ‘f’ 25yrs and Emmanuel Ishaya ‘m’ 37yrs were killed. While a 7 months old girl Tabitha survived with a neck injury and is receiving treatment at Enos Hospital at Miango.

“The information also emphasised that Monday Audu of Rotsu village also in Miango District was shot and matched to death.

“While the investigation into these crimes were ongoing, the Command on 30/04 /2019 at about 0730hrs received information that about 319 cattle were attacked and killed, 12 cattle were maimed while 11 cattle were rustled.

Two cattle rearers; one Mubarak Yakubu and one Shehu Saidu both male of different addresses were missing. All these allegedly took place in Billi and Ariri in Miango District.”

However, the Command said that it has mobilised a search and rescue team to rescue the missing rearers while efforts are on the way to track and arrest the perpetrators of the dastardly acts.

The Command further hinted that it has also mobilised a combined team of Police Mobile Force, PMF, and Detective personnel to the affected areas to maintain law and order.

  Irigwe Nation Demands Justice


In another development, a source from Irigwe land who spoke to acenews online under condition of anonymity said "last year precisely, after the myth of conflict between the Fulani herders and Irigwe, Sector Commander 6 who is in charge of Bassa LGA meet with two groups and agreed that no one should go to anyone domain. But in so many occasions Fulani Herdsmen delibrately breached the Standing order and consistently grazed  on the Irigwe's farm Crops, In places like Rikweh Chungu, Rewienku, Zangla, Dundu, Arweh Etc.

"Irigweman as a peace loving would reports the cases to Security personnel and nothing is been done.

" Before Presidential election, Fulani attack and Killed one Mr. Azee Gado. On March after the election Herders allegedly declared their cattles missing while others were killed by unknown Persons between the boundary of Jos South and Bassa Local Government Areas.

"According to the witnessed some of cattles killed were saw close to Dogongaba residence and Mai Anguwa of the area testified He heard a gun Shots during the rusttling. However, the Security operatives from the Headquaters in Jos invited Irigwe Chiefs and Kept them in detension and forcing them to Produce the Perpetrators of  the crime which the Chiefs testified they don't Know nothing about.

 "Despite several claims of knowing nothing about the crime, the Police insist that the Chiefs have Silent Conspirancy, and Presently they (Police) are Planning to Prosecute them before the Court while  Fulani Herders are busy ambushing and Killing People from left and right in Place of their cattles. They cannot force People on grazing land. Irigwe man is not a thief, rather e remain clean. "

The source also confirmed that "on 29th April,2019 three people were  killed by suspected Fulanis. Two at  night while one in the early hours of 30th April, 2019. The two are from Maiyanga village in kwall district, miss Jummai Ago Eshie 25 and Emmanuel Ishaya Dauda 30years old while Monday Audu Ruvo 54 years old killed in Rostsu.

"Barely 5 hours Ago, same day Fulani alleges that Irigwe stool  cows by Miyyeti Allah in Bassa.It Is purely Lie. The truth is Fulani gunmen wanted to attack some People who come with their sand truck  to feach building sand from the river close to Aribakwa at Rikwe Chungu Village in Jebu Miango, Bassa LGA.

" As those people who ran for their lives went and reported the matter to the closest Taskforce, STF On Peace mission around that area, the STF immediately sworn in to action and arrested one of the Fulani.And not long ago the STF decided to freed the arrested Fulani boy. Shortly within few minutes the sand truck was set ablaze by the Fulanis."He mentioned.

The source said right now Irigwe land is under threat by aggressors calling on government at all levels to intervene, and also charged STF Commander and other security agents for immediate redeployment of its personnel on those affected areas for Justice to Prevail.

However, efforts to reach officials of Miyyeti Allah cattle breeders association of Nigeria in Bassa Local Government Area for response proved abortive.

Miango district in Bassa LGA has been constantly attacked in recent times.
