PLSG SETS DATE FOR DEMOLITION OF COMPROMISED PARTS OF BURNT DOWN JOS MAIN MARKET
Plateau State Governor Simon Lalong says his commitment to rebuild the burnt down Jos Main Market remains sacrosanct.
As such, Lalong said all necessary measures are being taken to ensure the site is cleared to create the enabling environment for work to commence.
Consequently, the State government has approved Sunday, May 19, 2019 as date for demolition of compromised sections of the facility.
A statement by state Information and communication commissioner Yakubu Dati says all persons living within 200 metres to the market are to vacate on or before Friday, May 17, 2019 by 6.00pm.
Dati Further said vehicular movement will be restricted, and all entry points to the market will be closed, for the safety of members of the public .
The commissioner conveys government's regrets and any inconveniences this may cause members of the public.
He adds that the Government remains committed to restoring the market, the pride of the Plateau state.
