It is feared that ten people have been killed by yet to be identified gunmen on Sunday 26th January, 2020 around Kwatas Village in Bokkos LGA of Plateau State. The attacked area is said to be the home village of former Speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly,Rt Hon Titus Alams.

Kwatas, a community neighboring the Plateau State University, 15kms South-East was reportedly attacked at about 9pm, locals say.

No less than 10 corpses were evacuated to a mortuary in Bokkos town, a source told Journalists.

The attack comes few weeks after gunmen suspected to be herdsmen killed 12 people in neighboring Kulben village in Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State.

You will  recall seven suspects of the Kulben attack were reportedly arrested with the help of vigilantes in Kwatas village and may be connected with the earlier incident.

The suspects were reportedly transported to the Plateau State Government House on the Directive of the Deputy Governor, Sonni Tyoden.

It is not clear whether the suspects were handed over to police or  not.

Sources however say, the Chairman of Bokkos Local Government, Mr. Yusuf Machen, Thursday held a meeting with Fulani herdsmen leaders in Bokkos.

The reasons for the meeting are yet to be verified but the source links it to the alleged death of some of their subjects in reprisals after the Kulben attack.
