Confirming the incident to our reporter in Jos on Monday, Barr. Dalyop Solomon Mwantiri, of the Emancipation Centre for Crisis Victims in Nigeria-ECCVN, said the village head was stabbed to death during the ambush.

According to him, local sources, alleged that the unsuspecting natives were going back from Nghasit, a neighbouring village where they went and visited a friend and ran into the ambush.

The activities of suspected fulani herdsmen is threatening the peace of inhabitants of Bokkos, Bassa, Riyom, Mangu local government areas in recent past  and there are fears this might affect food production since the attacks are targeted at peasant farmers.
