The Chief Executive Officer, Institute of Human Virology, Dr. Patrick Dakum says the only way to stem the spike of Covid-19 in Nigeria is strict compliance with preventive measures and involvement of Community Gatekeepers in the fight against the pandemic.

He made this known while Speaking with newsmen shortly after inspecting facilities at the Plateau State Human Virology Research Centre.

Dr. Dakum stressed that as Government gradually eases the lock down , there was need for strict adherence to preventive measures, especially the use of facemasks, washing of hands and use of hand sanitizers .

He noted that large gatherings portend great danger and called on Nigerians to be wary of  places like markets , mosques, churches, and large gatherings.

He said  with the facilities in place the Plateau State Human Virology Research Centre is set to begin COVID19 testing along with the existing testing centres at the Jos University Teaching Hospital and National Veterinary Research Institute Vom.
