Plateau state deputy speaker and member representing Dengi state constituency, Rt Hon (surv) Saleh Yipmong congratulates Nigerians in the event of Independence day celebration. The deputy speaker while   addressing the public on air in unity FM Jos recalled his childhood experience while growing up, he says that his parents will wash and iron his clothes neatly because of the significance of Independence day celebration and so it's important that parents of nowadays should begin to take responsibility by enbiding same culture.


He further says "as we all rejoice and celebrate our 60 years of nationhood today, I want us all to reflect back and do a self appraisal on those things we as individuals have been doing which has been holding us back as a nation from achieving the goals and dreams of our founding fathers. Building a nation is a collective effort which requires the collective will and mindset of all Nigerians to achieve".


The deputy speaker added that "for me, we will get it right after a lot of sacrifice is made, government must Rise up to gain the trust of the people, as we journey into nationhood, we must bring out patriotism in people and the only way of doing that is for government to deliver their constitutional responsibility like provision of basic social amenities and infrastructure, once all this is provided, patriotism will be restored automatically thus, people sticking their heads for the government".


Yipmong further enjoins every Nigerian both in government and outside government to reflect and do the needful, he reiterates that "the bulky work is on the government, once they rise up and do their duties, the people will be loyal to them because traditionally, Nigerians are loyal to a constituted authority".


The deputy speaker while congratulating Nigerians urge them that hope is not lost; together we can put hands on deck to make Nigeria a workable society and the effort of our founding fathers will not go in vain, on this note, it's good to keep the flag flying.
