International Federation of Female lawyers, FIDA, has Sue for building an effective Service delivery to enhance better justice system for vulnerable group in the Society.

FIDA made the appeal during its 2020 maiden Annual General meeting/ Pre convention meeting held in Jos.

While declaring the event open, wife of Plateau State Governor Regina Lalong represented by deputy Governor's wife Abigail Tyoden described the role of female lawyers in the country as key towards ensuring Vulnerable are Saved in the Society.

According to her "the Collective mandate to fulfil the expectations which was Placed on female lawyers as Champions of the Vulnerable in the Society is important."

She called on them to bridge the gap through legal awareness and assured them of their total Support in the fight against based Violence as her foundation will Continue to Partner with them in various Capacity to ensure the Vulnerable are free from many Challenges it faced

National President of FIDA in her welcome address lamented absence of access to justice which remains a hindrance to people.

According to her "the absence of access to justice means people are unable to have their voices heard, exercise their rights,challenge and discriminate against them which holds decision makers to account.

"As female lawyers we must take a stand in ensuring Justice is served to our Vulnerable Population in Nigeria as true test of justice in our society.

"Therefore, it is a desideratum for us to empower the poor and marginalized to seek response for justice,improve legal Protections and address the challenges in the justice Sector such as Police brutality, impunity, sexual and gender based Violence and other Series of Conflict related Crimes", she mentioned.

However, Chairperson FIDA Plateau State, Mrs Mary Izam Said the Association in its 32 years of existence has achieved a lot in terms of legal awareness,advocacy,media campaigns on violence against women and children in the society.

She said in their effort to move the association forward they also introduced the first FIDA week in the state where issues that will help female lawyers under the workings of its Profession and how to be champions in their Capacity to fight the injustice.

Plateau State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Chrysantus Ahmadu while presenting the keynote address applauded female lawyers across the Country for it's efforts in fighting the course of Vulnerable in the Society, noting the theme of event is timely and will be a time to help educate members on the best method to tackle gender based Violence

He acknowledged that Plateau State has Domesticated the Child Right act law which protects the rights of Children and is working hard to ensure it adopts the Violence against Persons (Prohibition) Act which Prohibits all forms of Violence against persons, especially the marginalized in nigeria,which is an improvement on the criminal and Penal code.

He urged participants to use FIDA platform to Continue to be defenders of the marginalized and vulnerable persons in Plateau and Nigeria as a whole.

The events was heralded by Presentation /launching of FIDA Plateau State maiden magazine by Rtd Justice Julie Kyentu and other dignitaries who grace the occasion. The event will last for three days.
