Plateau State Governor Simon Lalong stated that it is high for Nigerians to decease from unwarranted criticisms of the security, must especially the 'Soldiers' as they are human.

Lalong who is Chairman Northern Governors forum said instead of criticism the soldiers we should rally round support for them.

"It is time to encourage our soldiers. Support Arm forces in fighting against insurgency, kidnapping, banditry and other vices bedeviling our country because they have paid a supreme price".

The Governor gave the admonition on Friday after laying wreath at Joseph Gomwalk Secretariat round about in Jos during the 2021 Armed forces remembrance day celebration.


He also condole families of men and officers of the Arm forces who lost their lives while serving Nigeria.

Recall,15th January has been set aside every year to appreciates the sacrifice of our veterans and fallen Heroes in the first and second world wars, the Nigerian civil war, peace support operations around the world and internal security operations.

Also Armed Forces remembrance day is targeting at "supporting the legionnaires and families of the deceased as well as indigents and incapacitated veterans".


Chairman Nigeria veterans, Legionnaires Colonel Sati Yilwat (rtd) laments government inability to take welfare of their members serious.

"we have a lot of challenges must especially the welfare of veterans and the incapacitated veterans we are having a very huge challenges. 

"In other advance countries they used to take care of all veterans and fallen heroes families. Most of them lost their lives during the civil war, first and second world war, and especially this present insurgence; majority of soldiers lost their lives and their families were left behind. They are completely handicapped and they become a problem to the entire family.


"So, we feel that Government should do something about them. In advance countries like America and others, whenever you retired they build houses and some small scale industry to keep the losing heroes family okay", he stated.

Col. Yilwat appreciates Governor Simon Lalong for redeeming N5 million pledged, nothing that the Governor also promised to give them tractor.

He appeal on individual and organizations who are yet to fulfill their pledges to expedite action.
