Activities has resume in earnest at Namu satellite market, 'Jep Jan integrated agro resources limited' in Qua'anPan Local Government Area of Plateau state after some moments of silence.

Recall the market is non functional for a while due to fire inferno that engulfed the place that lead to damage of goods worth millions of Naira.

With the reopening of the market, our correspondent learned that the populace who are in euphoric mood continue with their normal daily routine of buying and selling of goods and services.

Our correspondent also observed that the assorted food stuff, animals and farm implements were available in the market.


Comrade Yonmi Dama National President Pan Youth Association

Speaking during the official commissioning of the market, the national president of Pan Youth Association (PYA), Comrade Yonmi Dama said as you know Namu is the heartbeat of Qua'anPan in terms of commerce because it is the biggest revenue generated place in the whole of the Local Government Area.

"As you can see market suffered fire inferno which cost almost one hundred million Naira. We cried out for Government to come to our aid because the people are predominantly farmers and we saw the need to go ahead and come up with the market like this because it serve as employment opportunity for our teeming youths which are mostly graduate.

"The work started about one month ago, and as you can see the named 'Jep Jan integrated agro resources limited. It is a registered company with corporate affairs commission (CAC).

" We have received several threads in the most especially when about hundred and thirty armed police we deploy to stand this market without any reasons and demanded for explanation from all the security forces that we visited but not avail.
 
"They came down here based on the security threat emanating this place before commencement but to glory of God them came and saw with their two eyes what we're doing here and they also recommended that more of this are needed to engage our teeming youths.

"We're following the footsteps of Government which is diversification of the economy from oil to agriculture. Because you cannot produce without sell, and you cannot sell without you being produced and all of this cannot take place where there is no peace.

"We are people of conscious and we are doing what we do because our fundamental human right against our personal property is enshrined in the 1999 Constitution. We stood our ground because we're doing the right thing", Yonmi stated.

He equal call on the Plateau state and federal Government to initiate some intervention programmes to engage the youths so that nobody would use poverty as an excuse to perpetrate criminality.

Mr. Godfirst Dama secretary of market committee who spoke on behalf of the Chairman, Mr. Sogotdiel Monday revealed that the market size is about three hundred hactres.

He called on those who are yet to access the form to expedite action.
