Security Agencies and the Authority of Jos North Local Government Council have  reinstated their commitment to strengthen security surveillance within  flash points  as a measure to contain any breach to peace in the area. 

This formed  part of the resolution reached between Management Committee Chairman of Jos North Local Government Shehu Bala Usman, the various security agencies, as well as  representatives  of  religious leaders.

Shortly after the Chairman received security briefing from the security officials at the Council Secretariat in Jos.

Following the report of the various security Chiefs on Sunday fifteen August, 2021 on the heightened tension occasioned by the skirmishes  around Rukuba road  and  measures taken to contain the situation, Governors Simon Lalong had directed the Management Committee Chairman of Jos North Local Government Shehu Bala Usman to step down the briefing to  the Local Government to review its security   architecture  to restore normalcy in the area.

The  Chairman   read some of the resolutions at the meeting which they include; relevant security formations should be mobilized to  Zololo and  Bauchi Junctions, polo roundabout, Tudun Wada, T and T junction.

Other areas  are Ungwan Rukuba, Tina Junction, Terminus as well as corner shagari among others.

They called on parents and guardians to draw the attention of their wards to shelve violence and tow  the path of peace and tranquility among the diverse people of the area.

They  stressed that religious and traditional leaders should engage their people to restore confidence in the locality.

They condemn  the killing of innocent souls and described it as unholy and inhuman to mankind. 

The Jos North Chairman  Shehu  emphasized the importance of peace and peaceful coexistence to the economic prosperity of any society.

He  further appreciated the relentless efforts of the various security agencies in containing the situation and called on them to do more.

Representatives of  Various security agencies at the meeting  include  Divisional police officers , Nigeria Immigration service, Correctional service, Nigeria Security and civil defense Corp, DSS, and Drugs Law enforcement agency  as well as Vigilante Groups Nigeria and neighborhood  watch who all  assured to collaborate and work together to mitigate any further breach of peace.

The Chairman thereafter presented clothes  to some of the rescued travelers in Jos.
