The Deputy Speaker, Plateau State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Saleh Shehu Yipmong (surv) condemned in strong terms, the attack by suspected bandits/terrorists in some villages in Kanam Local Government Area.


Right Honourable Yipmong who is the member representing Dengi state constituency is saddened by the recent turn of events such as negative security reports that befalls the people of kukawa, Gyanbawu, and Dungur and Karam. The lawmaker commiserates with the families of those affected and urges security agencies in the local government to dominate the areas while a thorough investigation is carried out to unmask the attackers and serve justice to the affected people.


The Deputy Speaker further called on the Peace-Building Agency PBA, Traditional Council within the local government area, religious organizations, local vigilantes, hunters, and other community stakeholders to intensify effort by identifying the bad eggs in the society, liase, and cooperating with the security outfit to arrest the criminals.


Similarly, Yipmong sympathies with the people over the wanton destruction of schools, houses, religious houses, and other properties by the recent rainstorm that engulfed the area in recent times, he says "even though it's a natural disaster, the government will step up to its responsibility in bringing succour to the people".


The lawmaker called on the State Emergency Management Agency SEMA to step in to ascertain the level of damage and destruction caused by the killing and rainstorm as well as provide immediate relief materials to cushion the effect of them. He prayed for the soul departed to rest in peace.
