The National Sports Festival was ushered in on the 30th of November, 2022, with a ceremony that saw about 32 states on parade, to officially announce the arrival and participation of States in the 21st edition of the mundial.



Participating states were expected to have arrived on 28th of November in readiness for the biennial sports fiester, christened, THE NIGERIAN OLYMPIC.



Plateau assembled and arrived Asaba, Delta State, on the 28th Nov with a contingent of 206, comprising of 138 athletes, 30 Coaches, 10 Sports Secretaries, 18 adhoc staff and 10 delegates.



The Leader of delegation, the Commissioner for Youths and Sports, Hon Daniel Dung Dalyop, Who is currently in Asaba with the contingent, had promised every inch of Govermwnt support to the contingent and specifically the athletes, whom he has promised mouth watering instant rewards to medal winners. 


The Athlete's are fully charged and are rearing to go having being motivated with a fully paid allowances and provided with other logistics.


Meanwhile the Plateau Cycling Association has opened the floodgate of medals for the State on day one of competition by winning Bronze in the 12 km mixed relay behind Delta and Oyo who won the Gold and Silver medals respectively. The pacesetters cycling team that won the bronze are ;

Events will continue tomorrow 2nd December with Chess, Cycling, Golf, Gymnastics, Handball, Hockey, Judo, Kungfu and Powerlifting, taking the centre stage.

Others include Para-table Tennis, Scrabble, Squash, Taekwondo and Tennis also competing tomorrow. 


The Festival will run through to 10th December, 2022.
