The Executive chairman of Barkin-Ladi local government area, Hon. Stephen Gyang Pwajok, has officially flagged off the grading of several rural roads across the five districts of the locality.
The initiative which marked a new down in the annals of Barkin-Ladi local council under Pwajok's administration, aimed to entrench good governance at the grassroot.
Speaking on Monday at Gbwara Guhwes in Foron district, the Chairman thanked the electorates for trusting him with their mandate which saw his emergence, reiterating that the flagship road construction project starts from Foron is strategic.
He assured his administration's unwavering determination and commitment towards projects completion.
Pwajok further explained that he didn't make a mistake awarding the contract to the consultant, citing their antecedents on other jobs.
"The road project is one of 10 roads earmarked for grading. These road projects aim to aid access to healthcare delivery and transportation of agricultural products. Similar road projects will be done simultaneously at all the other 4 districts."
While acknowledging Governor Caleb Mutfwang's encouragement and booster that enhance delivery of dividends of democracy to the people, the Chairman urged youths to desist from ill vices as he emphasized the need for security consciousness, and promised adequate security measures for the festive season.
Goodwill messages were received from the Gwom Rwey Foron, HRH Da David Buna Dashong, and Leader of the Legislative Arm, Honorable Markus Pam, applauded the chairman's leadership prowess most especially in rural infrastructural projects.
They also pledged continue support for the council administration, taking into account that the chairman appointed Foron sons and daughters in his cabinet.
Mr. Dung Benjamin Gyang, assured swift and quality work within a time frame.Meanwhile, the Director of Works, Mrs. Shedul Rhoda, appreciates the contractor for mobilizing equipment to site even before payment was made.
In another development, the council chairman made a formal presentation of a 20 brand new motorcycles to non-conventional security outfits at the Local Government Council Secretariat, urging them to ensure safety and security in difficult terrain in the rural areas.
While charging beneficiaries to ensure judicious use of the motorcycles for effective service delivery, the chairman thanked Plateau State government under Governor Caleb Mutfwang for the recruitment and enlisting of Barkin-Ladi sons for the security training under Operation Rainbow.
The distribution process saw the five Districts in Barkin-Ladi which includes; Fan, Foron, Ropp, Gashish, and Heipang respectively got four (4) motorcycles each.
