The Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA), has raised alarm that over 52, 000 Christians killed and 18, 500 abducted between the year 2009 and 2023 in Nigeria.
ECWA General Secretary, Rev. Dr. Asheshe Ayuba who gave the hint on Friday during an interaction with newsmen in Jos, acknowledged there is ongoing genocide of Christians in the country.
He said ECWA as a denomination it's members suffer annihilation as result of terrorism.
"For instance in Lere local government area of Kaduna state and other places across the nation, some of our Local Church Council (LCC), the people were chased out from their ancestral homes and had no access to means of livelihood.
"Christians are being targeted by terrorist groups, including Boko Haram and Fulani militias, with over 52,000 killed and 18,500 abducted between 2009 and 2023.
"As a denomination, we affirmed that there is clear evidence of a systematic campaign of terrorism against Christians in Nigeria, driven by an Islamization agenda", Asheshe stated.
Acknowledging the Federal Government's recent efforts to address insecurity, including targeted operations and intelligence gathering, the ECWA chief scribe, emphasized the need for urgent action to stop the genocide and promote peace, unity, and prosperity in Nigeria.
"ECWA calls on the Federal Government to protect all citizens, regardless of faith, and urges the international community to intervene and halt the genocide.
"Ensure the safety and security of all citizens, particularly Christians.Hold perpetrators of violence accountable.
"As a Church, ECWA remains committed to praying for the peace, unity, and prosperity of Nigeria. We stand ready to partner with all levels of government in promoting justice, peacebuilding, and community reconciliation", Asheshe concluded.
