The media is awash with a news emanating from a private visit of Senator Lalong to the residence of his Legislative Aide in Langtang North on Sunday 4th January, 2025, where it was  purported that Lalong was endorsed by APC stakeholders of Langtang North LGA for a second term. 

While the motive of the meeting was deceptive, the news of the alleged endorsement was an affront to the personalities of a few respectable party stakeholders whose presence were used to lend credence to what could have passed for a mere reunion of Lalong appointees in Langtang North LGA.

To start with, the venue of the meeting, being a private residence of Lalong's aide, not a party office nor public facility, could not sincerely hold a party meeting were a serious business as endorsing somebody's candidature by the stakeholders could be discussed.

The choice of Sunday, being a day Christians hold sacred to host a  meeting where the senator is presumed to give the scorecard of his lacklustre performance, in itself is a slap to the genuine APC stakeholders of Langtang North, who are predominantly Christians. 

The APC stakeholders of Langtang North LGA have no reason whatsoever to support the candidacy of Sen. Lalong because he has not brought any development to Langtang North, whether as governor for 8 years, or as Senator for more than two years. This explains why even as a sitting governor in 2023 he was overwhelmingly rejected by the entire people of Plateau South. 

The news of the purported endorsement was a fabrication of a mischief data boy who wants to set some respectable APC stakeholders of Langtang North against other APC Senatorial aspirants from the local government. 

Whatever endorsement that might have emanated from a meeting of a handful appointees of Lalong is a black market endorsement induced by the three million naira handout to the over 50  attendees at the meeting, and such can never translate to the support of the delegates from Langtang North who would be voting at the primaries.

Lalong was a child of necessity who has squandered the goodwill of Plateau people and becomes unelectable, even by his own kinsmen. The Tarok nation, and Langtang North in particular, is blessed with more capable and competent persons in the APC seeking election to the Senate in 2027 who have the strong backing of respectable stakeholders from the local government.

Let it be on record that the APC stakeholders of Langtang North LGA are willing and ready to support their own in 2027, hence did not endorse Lalong for a second term.

Mikang/Qua'an-Pan/Shendam Federal Constituency has held tenaciously to the position of the senate representing Plateau South for two consecutive terms, hence will not be supported for another term again. This is aside holding the position of Governor for eight years concurrently.

We the Tarok APC Vanguard condemn in the strongest terms, any act by any Tarok  stakeholder that would jeopardize the emergence of a Tarok APC candidate for the 2027 Southern Plateau Senatorial election and would be deemed an enemy of Tarok land.

We are living witnesses to how Lalong cornered every juicy appointments to the exclusive benefit of his kinsmen in his eight years as governor and recently as the former leader of the party in the state. 

We want to make it abundantly clear that we have been supporting the APC since its creation in 2013, but we are yet to benefit, either by way of project execution or the personal empowerment of our people by the Lalong led APC in Plateau State. 

With the entry of Governor Mutfwang into the APC as the leader of the party in Plateau, and the love he has shown to the Tarok people through appointments and projects execution, we hope that the neglected original members of APC in Tarok land would be liberated from servitude and the Tarok man be restored to his original status as mover and shaker of Plateau politics.
