Plateau State Governor, Barr. Caleb Mutfwang, has officially joined All Progressives Congress (APC), citing the need for unity and development in the state.
Governor Mutfwang also acknowledged the support of President Tinubu and the APC leadership,pledged to work towards delivering one million more votes for the president in the 2027 elections.
The governor who was delivering his acceptance speech on Friday at Government House Little Rayfield, shortly after accommodating into the party membership expressed optimism about president Tinubu's re-election bid, and the future of Plateau State under the APC.
Mutfwang, who previously served as the governor of Plateau State under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), stated that his decision to join the APC was driven by his desire to promote unity and progress in the state.
According to him, "I’m excited because one of the things I have dreamt about, one of the things I have pursued, is that Plateau should be united.
"When we began this journey, I believe God gave us a song: I don’t care what side we belong to, but as far as Plateau is concerned, if indeed you love Plateau, you are my brother.
And today, I’m beginning to see light at the end of the tunnel. I’m beginning to see that the building blocks of unity that we have been holding — finally, we are getting to put them together. And let’s have a united party.
"What I’m seeing today is a new Plateau. I was getting worried- the People’s Party riding on the platform of the All Progressives Congress-and together we will pursue the cause of Plateau. It’s been long coming", Mutfwang assured.
Plateau APC Chairman, Hon. Rufus Bature who presented Governor Mutfwang with his membership card, citing the governor's alignment with President Bola Tinubu's Renewed Hope Agenda.
"Having fulfilled all the requirements of the party constitution, we accord to you all the privileges as enshrined in the APC Constitution.Your card number is APC 311110100001.
"Therefore, it is my privilege, sir, to accord you this card and accept you as a full member of the APC", the noted.
