The Plateau State Ministry of Local Government and Chieftancy Affairs has inherited over ₦30 billion for local government workers gratuity.
State Commissioner in charge of the Ministry Ephriam Usman Gar revealed this when he featured on a Live PRTVC program, "Plateau Projects"
While highlighting the ministry's efforts under his leadership and with the full support of Governor Caleb Mutfwang, the ministry has made significant progress in clearing salary and pension arrears.
The Commissioner pointed out that the Governor Caleb Mutfwang's administration has also upgraded the minimum monthly pension for Local Government Workers.
He noted that the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs is prioritizing the payment of gratuity to the local government.
He said the Ministry has achieved significant milestones, including the installation of the Ngolong Ngas, Nde Jika Golit a paramount ruler who had been absent for decades, and the construction of a befitting palace.
These developments according to Ephriam, aim to promote traditional institutions, unity, and development in Plateau State.
The Hon Commissioner said the government is calling on the people of Tarok to withdraw the Ponzhi Torok throne dispute from the court, aiming to facilitate the installation of a first-class ruler.
He noted that Governor Caleb Mutfwang's administration values traditional rulers' contributions to peace-building and advocacy.
The move according to him seeks to Resolve the long-standing dispute, Allow the community to have a first-class ruler, as well as Promote peace and stability
The Commissioner praised traditional rulers' selfless efforts in promoting harmony.
On security, the Commissioner highlighted that the Local Government Chairmen and Plateau State Operations Rainbow initiative have procured Hilux vehicles for Operation Rainbow, enhancing community security across the state.
He said the collaboration aims to curb insecurity and promote peace in Plateau State.
