A group under the platform of the Plateau Progressive Ambassadors (PPA), has raised alarm that there is ongoing underground moves by some prominent figures in the state to dethroned Governor Caleb Mutfwang in 2027 general elections.

PPA alleged that based on their findings and observations some elders and political stakeholders working with external forces using insecurity to dethrone governor Mutfwang and impose Chief Kefas Ropshik popularly known as Kefiano as Governor in 2027.

The group said those elders engaged in these alleged secret meetings are betraying Plateau and undermining its unity.

Addressing newsmen in Jos on Friday, PPA chairman, Ayuba Dung expressed concern over the recent political developments and the worsening security challenges as well as land grabbing bedevilling state.

Dung said Plateau State has suffered severe infiltrations which have largely contributed to the insecurity we are facing today.
According to him, "we believe power belongs to God, and He gives it to whoever He wills, not through imposition.

"We state categorically that no individual, no matter how highly placed, can come from outside to install a Governor for Plateau people. Plateau State is not like other States.

"We condemn the campaign of calumny and disrespect against Senator Da Jonah David Jang. He deserves respect as an elder statesman who has served this state meritoriously.

"We urge all those seeking various political offices to focus on presenting their blueprint and manifesto to convince Plateau people, rather than engaging in attacks against those in power.

"Rather than engage in a campaign of calumny on social media, we urge anyone who feels Governor Mutfwang is not doing well to seek constructive engagement and meet with him directly to offer advice", Dung stated.

The group also called President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to continue to support the current efforts of Governor Mutfwang in tackling insecurity in Plateau, and to disregard the negative rumours and narratives that Governor Mutfwang is not performing and he's not capable of handle the state, saying "these are lies and a calculated attempt to give a dog a bad name in order to hang it."
