A Jos-based lawyer, Mr Gyang Zi, on Tuesday, said the Peoples Democratic Party in Plateau State should be held responsible for the defeat suffered by its governorship candidate, Jeremiah Useni.

He said the claim by the PDP that its candidate was rigged out was false.

Zi spoke with journalists in Jos, the state capital.

He said, “From all indications, the claim by the PDP that it was rigged out of the Plateau State governorship poll cannot stand, given the crisis in the party during the build-up to the elections.

“The party should blame itself for the loss. Though it had a better chance of winning the elections, it destroyed itself from the outset.

“Apart from the crisis that arose from emergence of the party’s governorship candidate and his running mate which was not properly managed, the PDP leadership became extremely insensitive and arrogant before the elections.

“While people were still struggling to get over the choice of the governorship candidate, the party leadership imposed a very unpopular personality on them as deputy in a controversial circumstance.”

Zi advised the PDP and its governorship candidate not to waste their resources and time by going to the election petitions tribunal.

He called on the PDP and Useni to accept defeat and congratulate the state Governor, Simon Lalong, on his victory.

He also advised Lalong to run an all-inclusive government in order to ensure growth and development of the state.
