The Coalition of Plateau Youths have raised alarm demanding the immediate resignation of the Provost Federal College of Medical Laboratory Sciences and Technology (FCMLST) Jos, Dr. Sunday Etukodoh, calling for Federal Government intervention.
The Youths said Dr. Etukodoh over stayed his welcome having spent about two decades as FCMLST Provost, and also taking into account allegation of financial embezzlement level against him as well as the ongoing litigations at Plateau State High Court and the Federal High Court.
Speaking to newsmen in Jos on Tuesday, Spokesman of the Youths coalition, Gujarha Obed Isah, alleged that Dr. Etukodoh's tenure terminated on the 7th of August, 2026."He then reluctantly, handed over partially to the Deputy Provost, Dr. Obiora Ejinaka.
Isah said the scenario currently at the College is not funny, the former Provost failed to handover his office and official vehicle as well as other paraphernalia of offices to enable the Acting provost to carry out his assignment.
"Despite his exit, Etukkudoh, on the 22th of September, 2026 Returned to his office again with his same titles and operated in the same capacity as the Provost.
"The aberration is not only Unconstitutional, but it is an affront to the Citizens of Plateau State and Nigeria as a whole. As Youths with conscience, we will not stand aloof and allowed such an injustice and act of Corruption continue to rear it's ugly head.
"Today, his matter came up before the State and the Federal High Courts, as he is facing trials on the alleged financial embezzlements and this is someone who spent more than two decades, as a provost without any tangible projects and progress in the Institution", he stated.
Isah further acknowledged that,
for the Institution's to grow as the citadel of learning, Etukudoh should steer clear of it and enjoy his retirement.
"A good dancer they says leave the stage when the ovation is still laud.It has also come into our notice that, the Embattled Ex Provost, is forcing Students and some of his cronies, under the guise of end of the year party and welcoming him.
"This is someone that denied Students of the Institution their rights by disbanding all forms of Union Government and activities within the College.
"Our candid advise to him is let him exit honourably with further disgracing not only himself but the Staff and the entire College.
"Let him borrow a leaf from the Jos University Teaching Hospital (JUTH),where the Administration is going without any hitches.
The Coalition called on the Minister of Health and Permanent Secretary to immediate mandates Etukkudoh to do the proper handing over to the Provost within two Weeks, saying that failure to do so they will left with no other choice than to picket the College.
"Dr. Etukodoh should account for all the Properties of the Institution under his care.
"If the Acting Provost is not ready and willing to take his right duty and full responsibilities and place, he should immediately step aside and hand over to the next most senior in the organisation, for proper Administration.
"Failure to meet these demands, we will be left with only one option to picket the College, until our demands are met", Isah concluded.
