The All Progressives Congress has said that it endorsed Senator Ahmed Lawan for senate presidency after wide consultation with President Muhammadu Buhari and other leaders of the party.

Leadership reports that the national publicity secretary of the party, Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu, in a press conference on Wednesday, March 27 made this revelation.

Issa-Onilu said the party was also working on a formula for zoning other key positions in the Senate and House of Representatives.

The publicity secretary also dismissed report that the party was working on a sharing formula with the Peoples Democratic Party insisting they don’t need their votes as they are in the clear majority.

It was reported that the All Progressives Congress (APC) has said it would invoke disciplinary measures on any of its members found opposing or working against the decision of the party on the choice of the National Assembly leadership.

The party's stance was made known by its national publicity secretary, Malam Lanre Issa-Onilu, after former Senate Leader, Senator Ali Ndume opposed the adoption of Senator Ahmad Lawan as Senate president by the APC.

Ndume (APC, Borno South) told newsmen in Abuja on Tuesday, March 26 that the disclosure by the APC national chairman, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole on Monday, March 25 endorsing Lawan as president of the 9th Senate and Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila as Speaker of the 9th House of Representatives was not only embarrassing but unconstitutional.
