The mace of the Adamawa state house of Assembly, was on Tuesday, hurriedly smuggled out of the assembly complex to avert impeachment procedure against the outgoing Governor , Senator Mohammed Umaru Jibrilla Bindow. And the Speaker, Kabiru Mijinyawa.

The assembly had reconvened on Tuesday after about a month recess during the general elections, to consider the executive letter of the Governor Bindow that he was proceeding on two weeks leave.

However, during the proceedings it turned sour when several members questioned the proprietary of Bindow going on leave at the crucial period when he ought to stay in office to explain so many crucial issues and decisions that he took in the last 4 years.

Tempers rose high as they also accused him of trying to abscond from office because of some malfeasance.

The situation however degenerated when the member representing Hong, Hon, Hassan Barguma, accused the Speaker, Kabiru Mijinyawa, of over protecting the Governor Bindow and requested him to step aside, so that an appropriate action can be taken on the Governor.

The Speaker, with the assistance of the Sergeant at arms, however quickly exited the chamber with the mace.

The deputy speaker, Lamsambani Dili, declined to comment on the impeachment moves.
