The Plateau State’s Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Yakubu Idi, says the proposed demolition of the Terminus Market in Jos will gulp N1.1bn because it is located within the centre of the town and around residential houses and business offices.

Addressing journalists in Jos yesterday, Idi said experts were contracted from abroad, adding that the explosives to be used for the demolition were also imported.

He said: “It is not an ordinary kind of demolition. It is a specialized kind of demolition.

“There are about four components of the demolition and the first component is sanitation because there are heavy tones of human waste around the market, they have to be evacuated and fumigated.
