The Plateau State Government has said that, it would offer automatic employment to grandaunts of Oswald Waller College of Education, Lifidi who passed out with distinction.

Governor Simon Bako Lalong made the revelation last Saturday at the Joint Convocation Ceremony for the award of Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE) and prices to the grandaunts of 2016, 2017 and 2018 held at Centenary Pavilion, Shendam.

The governor said plans were on the way by his administration to establish technical colleges in the central and southern zones in addition to the Technical College Bukuru to meet up with demands for technically related/entrepreneur demands in the country.

While congratulating the grandaunts, the governor said that, government would continue to partner with voluntary agency schools like Oswald Waller College of Education in order to turn around the fortunes of the Education Sector in the state.
He used the occasion to congratulate the proprietor, Governor Council, the management, members of staff and students of the college for their foresight in birthing the college.

Governor Lalong reiterated that, the present administration remains committed to putting the education sector on the pedestal of development that would be equal to none in Nigeria and beyond.

In his speech, Bishop of Catholic Diocese of Shendam, Bishop Philip Davou Dung said, the reason behind the establishment of the college was to meet up with in adequate teachers from the public primary school from the six local government areas that make up the diocese, with most of the secondary schools managed by Parent Teachers Association (PTA).

Speaking at the graduation the Provost of the college, Professor Mathew Sule, said the College was established on the 11 January 2013 at Shendam with the purpose of providing opportunity for tertiary education, particularly to the teeming population of qualified but idle youth of Plateau Southern Senatorial District who lacked or missed such chances that availed elsewhere.

Professor Sule further said the vision of the college was to provide education that would prepare the citizenry for teaching opportunities at the basic education level in addition to life long and universal in content that guarantees the attainment of knowledge and skills for socio economic and political development are essential components of the college’s curricular content.

While speaking at the occasion the Executive Secretary of the National Commission for Colleges of Education, Abuja, Prof. Bappa M. Aliyu represented by Lami Dutse, the commission’s Librarian saluted the effort of the college management and the teaching staff for following holistically NCE minimum standards to produce 3 sets of grandaunts, saying, NCCE and the nation has proud of the college.
