Lockdown mornitoring  Day 5 Tuesday 13th April,2020 Monitoring of the Plateau State Government Directive on Total Lockdown in Jos City.

A drive round the city indicates 95% Compliance with most of the violations of the directive meeting their Waterloo before the mobile courts put in place for such purposes.
Thus far over 200 defaulters have been convicted in Jos, West of Mine Mobile Courts. They are made to pay fines of N10,000 or face Community Services of cleaning up the streets.

In Langtang North LGA yesterday, about 21 violators were convicted while in Shendam LGA,21 violators were convicted.

It was observed that 4 violators who beat up Vigilantes in Mista Ali of Jos North LGA were arrested, tried and convicted.They paid fines as well as Community Service.

Similarly, 9 commuters from Abuja who sneaked into the city of Jos through a Vectra Car with Daily Newspapers for the day were also arrested, tried and convicted. They were however directed to be quarantined for 14 days because they are coming from an infected area.

Another group of 9 violators from the Utan Area of Jos were also arrested, tried and convicted to Community Service.

Today again, a Sharon Bus with fake NUJ Stickers loaded with green beans and vegetables meant for Bauchi State escorted by a military personnel was intercepted at the Jos-Bauchi border, and brought to the West of Mine Court. Occupants were tried and convicted.



In the same vein,9  travellers from Lagos were arrested on Sunday 11th April,2020,convicted and quarantined. With the number of arrests and convictions, it means our borders must be fortified by more security agencies to stem people from coming into the State despite the lockdown.

Experts are advocating for the establishment of more testing centres in Plateau State as it costs only N22m to build a standard molecular laboratory. With just  N220m,we can get 10 standard molecular laboratories that can be handy to test other diseases even after the Coronavirus Pandemic.
