The Plateau State House of Assembly has expressed deep appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the choice of a Plateau son, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda Goshwe, as the National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Naanlong Daniel Gapyil, made the House's  position known when he led a delegation of lawmakers to the APC National Secretariat to formally congratulate Prof. Yilwatda on his emergence as the party's National Chairman.

Na'anlong described the emergence of Professor Yilwatda as a historic milestone for Plateau State, noting that since 1999 when the first civilian Governor Solomon Lar, who led  the People's Democratic Party PDP, the state had never produced a national chairman of a ruling party until now.

He stated that the choice of Prof. Nentawe is a clear testament to President Tinubu’s trust in the capacity and integrity of Plateau people. He expressed confidence that the new National Chairman will deploy his wealth of experience to reposition the party, even amidst current national challenges.

"We are here to celebrate you. Plateau men have never failed in any national assignment and you will not fail. We heartily congratulate you on this appointment," the Speaker said.

The APC National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda Goshwe, thanked members of the Plateau State House of Assembly for the solidarity visit and pledged to lead the party with inclusivity, transparency, and a focus on growth and grassroots development.

Prof. Yilwatda assured the lawmakers that under his leadership, the party would be positioned for victory in 2027 and beyond. He noted that poverty should not be a barrier to development, and commended President Tinubu’s efforts to empower Nigerians through economic initiatives.

He announced that the Federal Government, under President Tinubu, is injecting funds into the Bank of Industry to enhance food sufficiency and has initiated plans to deliver over 1.5 million housing units nationwide,  a policy that will positively impact Plateau State.

The APC National Chairman urged the lawmakers to step down the party’s manifesto to the grassroots and reaffirm his commitment to building a party structure that will earn the admiration and trust of Nigerians at all levels.
