The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Bukuru Branch in Plateau State has called for the unconditional released of all those arrested by the special taskforce saddles with the maintenance of peace on the Plateau, part of Bauchi and Southern Kaduna code named Operation Safe Haven(OPSH) and other security agencies in the state.

The Branch Chairman, Barr. Jacob Peter Dawang (JP ) Esq in a press statement signed by self and made available to newsmen on Monday in Jos the State capital advised government to take other steps such as calling for town hall meeting with the aggrieved youths which will help restore confidence on government.

Barr. Dawang maintained that the review or suspension of the 24 hour curfew imposed on the two LGA of Jos North and Jos South will help citizens of the state to brace-up with the current economic reality already facing them.

The statement read in path, "The Branch is sadden by the recent events in the state leading to the imposition of curfew by the State Government, 

"The Branch condemns in strongest terms  the hoarding  of Palliatives delivered to the State without formal NOTICE to the public as regards such kind gesture of the FEDERAL GOVERNMENT in such a time like this when severe hunger, poverty, disease, anger and squalor has taken over the masses."

He added, "We commiserate with the families of those who lost their loved ones  in the unfortunate incident. And also commiserate with private business owners who were affected during the ransacking of warehouses on the Plateau. "

The Legal body called on security personnel to be professional in the handling of the ongoing situation in the state and equally cahrged them and government to respect the fundamental rights of citizens of the country.

According to the Chairman, "We call on Government to release forthwith and unconditionally all those arrested by the STF and other security agents in connection to the unfortunate incident

"We advice government to address the pains, suffering and concerns of the citizens which will help douse tensions," for the good of the State.

Barr. Dawang advised that Government should lift or suspen the curfew to enabled people pursue their daily bread without constrain. While ensuring that it shares the remaining palliatives in a transparent manner as well as roll out "beneficial sacrificial packages and programs for the people."
