Two time champions, Plateau United football club of Jos has maintained their home winning record as they defeated visiting Abia Warriors 1-0 in match day 9 of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) 2021/2022 season.

Albert Hilary came from bench with first touch in 67 minutes of second half in 16 yard box to secure three maximum points for Team Plateau United.

The game which held at New Jos Stadia, Zaria road on Sunday saw 45 minutes of first half ended goalless as home side United enjoyed ball possession but  couldn't found back of the net.

With victory against Abia Warriors, Peace Boys (Plateau United) now won all five  matches at home and lost four after playing nine matched in the ongoing 2021/2022 NPFL season.

Technical adviser of Plateau United, Fidelis Ilechukwu said the team knew that the encounter is going to be a tough one that is why they prepared for it and at the end of the day " we give all our best and we become victorious."

Commending on inability of Plateau United to any away victory or draw, Ilechukwu stated that the team is not losing hope because anytime they go into game they always go with expectation.

"I understand that we have lost four away games and I think we have come very close to change the narrative. All I asked from the fans is to be patience with the team because is a new team. Plateau United  is a big team and I know we must get away point." 

In his reaction, Coach Ezenwo Ernest of Abia Warriors acknowledged that the reason why they lost gallantly is because about ten players left the team to different clubs which makes them lost cohesion in the game.

"We are trying to get cohesion with the team which I believe by this week ten, week eleven of NPFL the team will get cohesion."

Plateau United are traveling away from home midweek Wednesday to face Enugu Rangers in the NPFL match day 10 before playing host to Rivers United in Jos on Sunday in match not day 11 respectively.
