Hon Gideon Davou Dung Dandereng,the Executive Chairman of Jos South Local Government Council and the All Progressives Congress (APC) Jos East/Jos South House of Representatives Favourite has flagged off the Operation Know Your Neighbour programme in the Headquarters of the LGC on Thursday 31st March, 2023.



For the effective and efficient service delivery in the LGC, Dandereng distributed three official vehicles for the office of the Executive Chairman, Deputy Chairman and the Legislative Leader. 

Similarly,to achieve peace in the troubled areas the proactive council boss distributed fifty motorcycles to the four Nigeria Police Force Divisions of Rantiya,Bukuru, Anglo Jos and Vom as well as other non conventional security agencies like the Neighbourhood Watch, Hunters Association, etc. 



Addressing guests at the flag off on what the programme entails, Hon Dandereng called on all residents of the LG to ensure that they remain security conscious by monitoring the movement of any new or strange person and where appropriate reporting intelligence findings to the security agencies.



Recall that the chairman had toured all the five police divisions in Jos South, where he interacted with the all DPO’s and officers and listened to the challenges inhibiting them from discharging their duties efficiently of which after listening promised to intervene especially on the issue of mobility


Making his remarks today, the Chairman reiterated the primary duty of any government which is to protect the lives and properties of its citizens. He reaffirmed his resolve to tackle insecurity in the local government and he has today demonstrated the will to consolidate on the efforts of security men in executing their duties, even as he charged them to be patriotic.


He commended the efforts of the securities comprising both the conventional and non-conventional securities in Jos South for their efforts in maintaining law and order. The Chairman handed a letter of commendation to the DPO of Rantya Division of the NPF.


The Commissioner of Police CP Batholomew Onyeka Nnamdi commended the efforts of the Chairman for such a giant stride. He expressed satisfaction with the development as his men will now be able to penetrate and access dangerous terrains where vehicles cannot pass through. The CP recalled that this is his fourth time of visiting the council in a short while for similar occasions which is an indication that there are projects that are actively being executed by the council.


The Chairman distributed 50 brand new motorcycles to both the conventional and non-conventional security men, to leverage their efforts at tackling crime and avoiding the breakdown off law and order. Agencies which were allocated the motorcycles including the Police, the STF, NSCDC, Vigilante, Community Police and Hunters.
