The Commissioner, Plateau State ministry of Housing  Hon. Brian Dadi said Governor Simon Lalong is desired to complete the ongoing remodeling project of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Plateau State Council within a time frame.

The remodeling project of Plateau NUJ Secretariat which is at 85% completion started since 2019.

Speaking to our correspondent on Thursday at NUJ Secretariat in Jos the State capital, Dadi said, "I want to say that the project at NUJ happens to fall within the priority of Government. The government has been so concerned to bring this project to conclusion. And you know each time we meet with the Governor he want to know how much we have gone and how far we have gone with the project on site here. I think the Governor is desirous to complete this project within a time frame."

On the issues of rising cases of building collapse most especially now that the rainy season is in place, the Commissioner calls for strict adherence to professionalism from all and sundry.

According to him, "gone at those days professional builders whatever they do they don't compromise the standard. Whichever materials they have they make sure that it is the best.

"But sometimes of recent you discover that people just built, or you call them the structures that are not according to the standard of building that is why you find out the issue of building collapse is increasing.

"There are also those who built structures on water ways. You will see somebody would go and erect something in the name of structure and when the rain falls heavily and there is flood they will be a victim. All those things are warning for those who are reckless, and these are some of the challenges that ministry is facing.

"And even those who are claims to be architectures and building experts they don't want to be seen to be proactive. You can never be a doctor without following the rigours of being a doctor. You can never be a good doctor  when you completely sub performed, that sometimes you completely left what you have supposed to do as a professional.

Let stick according to professionalism, and let us go back to the drawing board where there is no any compromised, no any substandard practices when it comes to structures that house people," he stated.

Hon. Brian Dadi also revealed that, as a ministry our first guide is Jos metropolitan development Board (JMDB), which is our enforcing unit because any structure that is not built according to standard, according to where it supposed to be the JMDB supposed to take a drastic action.

"Our own as a ministry is to sensitized people so that builders will done their work professionally. So if there is anybody who want to erect structures in the name of such the unit that supposed to dealt with them without any compromised is the JMDB."
