The Plateau Chapter of the Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria, has condemned the forceful invasion of its National Secretariat in Lagos, by its ex President, Mr Bola-Audu Innocent and other expelled members of the union.

The association made the condemnation in a statement on Friday in Jos, adding that the former president invaded the secretariat in company of some hoodlums

The statement was signed by Titus Malau and Gideon Daniel, the Chiarman and Secretary of the association in the state, respectively.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Innocent,  who stepped aside from his position in March 2021, illegally invaded the national secretariat on Monday, Aug. 22.

Innocent was arrested in Abuja by the National Agency for Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) over allegation of trafficking and exploitation of vulnerable persons.

The association explained that while its leadership at the national level was exploring informal channels to give Innocent a soft landing over his alleged criminal act, he invaded the annex of its National secretariat in Abuja.

”The act which made him indulge in all manner of constitutional breaches which forced the association to expel him in August 2021.

”On Aug. 22, he, in company of some retired civil servants and suspected hoodlums again invaded our national secretariat in Lagos.

”We wish to emphasise that Innocent and his misguided cohorts would be held solely responsible if any staff of the union at the national secretariat in Lagos and the annex in Abuja is harmed in any way.

”We wish to advice Innocent and his gang to steer clear of the national secretariat so that the union can continue to pursue the welfare of its teeming members throughout the country as it has been doing over the years, ”It advised.

It maintained that the association is a conglomerate of educated, civilised and knowledgeable persons that cherish due process and decorum in the management of its affairs.

The Plateau Chapter of the association further affirmed its  loyalty and past a vote of confidence on its current national president, Dr Tommy Okon,  and Secretary,  Mr Alade Lawal.
