Jos, March 8, 2023 (NAN) A few days ahead of the governorship and State Assembly elections to be held on March 11, the governorship candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Barr Caleb Mutfwang has urged the people of Plateau state to defend their votes during the elections.
Mutfwang made the call while addressing journalists in Jos on Friday.
He said defending their votes will serve as a means to eliminate any attempt to rig the elections in favour of desperate politicians.
“I want to urge the electorate that after voting wait till the votes are counted, announced and uploaded on the BVAS machine before you go home.
“Watch out for agents of violence who have been sent to forment trouble in order to get the results of your polling unit canceled, also watch out for those who have been sent to create situations of over voting and only accredited voters by BVAS machine must vote.
“While they will attempt to rig the election, we must win in accordance with due process of law and i strongly urge you not to sell your vote for money,” he said.
Mutfwang stated that the future security and glory of Plateau depends on the votes of the electorates charging them to take responsibility of the future by voting in the party in the state.
He called on residents to go out in their numbers to vote on March 11 encouraging them not to despair from the years of retrogression as their votes can return the state to path of peace and prosperity.
Mutfwang explained that all cases regarding the legitimacy of the PDP EXCO for Plateau state had no bearing on the primaries that produced PDP candidates.
He urged the people in the state to discountenance malicious statements attributed to him making rounds in the last couple of days which he said was to create fear in the minds of people about his person.
He said the produced divisive quotes attributed to him on plans to dethrone chiefs and dissolve chiefdoms were simply malicious.
He reassured the people in the state of his belief in peaceful coexistence in a multi-religious and multi-ethnic society, adding that he does not believe in the superiority of any tribe over another. (NAN)
