The Plateau State Command of the Nigerian Police had in July, arraigned the duo and their Company, "Wildal Global Sports" Limite before the Jos Metropolitan Development Authority (JMDB) Magistrate Court on Two-Count charge bordering on alleged conspiracy and cheating.
Counsel for the nominal Complainants, Yusuf Ali, Esq had told the court that the defendant committed the offences on December 2 , 2022, in Plateau state when he dupe his prey, claiming that he operates a registered film company to mobilized clients for travel agencies.
Counsel alleged that the accused fraudulently got the sum of N20 million from five persons under the pretence of using the company to organize for job opportunity for his clients in Canada but failed to provide the visa or repay the money as agreed by the party five months after.
The offence, according to the police contravened Sections 306,307,and 56 of the Criminal Law of Plateau State, 2017 and punishable under section 59 of the Penal Code Law.
The defendants, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The Magistrate court judge granted them bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in the same sum and adjourned the matter till July 27, 2023 for the prosecution to prove its case.
However, when the case, in file No: CMC/JMDB/DCR 56/2023 was called on the adjourned date, Counsel for the Complainants told the court their intention to voluntarily withdraw the case.
Without any objection from the Counsel for the defendants, the Magistrate, Hon. Joseph D. Chollom stroke out the matter.
Findings by this publication however reveals that the withdrawal of the case came when the Complainants found out that the accused were innocent of the allegations against them as they were victims of dubious acts of former staff of their company in conniavance with another who is still serving in the company.
It is said that the staff was fond of sabotaging the Company by diverting clients to the former two staff (who currently run their own company) and tells the clients that the Williams' charges are high in addition to telling them that they are not genuine but fraudster, thereby, damaging the good image and reputation of Wildal Global Sports Limited.
Further findings show that some of these clients who's minds have been poisoned by the staff are the ones who took the Williams to court.
But no sooner than the matter was instituted than the ignoble and mischief acts of the staff was exposed prompting the Complainants to withdraw their case in court.
