Plateau State University (PLASU), Bokkos, has been ranked top among North central Nigerian universities for possessing the highest quality laboratory equipment.

Professor Hayward Babale Mafuyai, Chairman of the Tertiary Education Trust Fund Advisory Committee on Workshops, Laboratories, and Studio Equipment in Nigerian Tertiary Institutions, made the declaration recently, praising PLASU for its remarkable inventory of 65 fully equipped laboratories, workshops, and studios. 

Prof. Mafuyai, a former Vice Chancellor of the University of Jos, said this feat positions the University favorably for accessing funding opportunities to further enhance its academic infrastructure.

He gave the recognition during the committee's inspection of PLASU's facilities, as part of an ongoing exercise across the North central region of Nigeria. 

He emphasized the importance of maintaining these resources and advised the university to engage trained personnel for routine maintenance.

Welcoming the team,Acting Vice Chancellor, Professor Shedrack Best, expressed gratitude to TETFUND for its consistent support, citing various infrastructural interventions facilitated by the federal agency. He assured the committee of the university's commitment to maximizing the utility of its resources, including a functional weather station operated by the Geography Department.

Prof. Best also disclosed plans by the state government to dredge a nearby dam to provide water for the university and ongoing discussions to improve road networks within the institution's premises. 

He reiterated PLASU's dedication to expanding its technological capabilities and enhancing human resources in the sector.

The Acting Vice Chancellor  assured the committee of the university's proactive measures to address recent disturbances and vandalism, affirming the swift restoration of student discipline.
