In commemoration of World Water Day, the Keep Kanam Clean Initiative (KKCI) took a significant step toward improving water safety and sanitation by repairing and installing well covers across Kanam Local Government Area.

The effort, which took place on March 22, 2025, focused on securing dilapidated water sources, ensuring cleaner and safer drinking water for residents. Among the key achievements were the installation of well covers in Kyakbung, Gyambar Ward, and Takyelen, Gidgid Ward, which were met with appreciation from local communities.

"We are grateful for the volunteers and supporters who made this initiative possible," said Sanitarian Suleiman Pangkwal, CEO of KKCI. "Access to clean water is a fundamental right, and these repairs will go a long way in preventing contamination and improving public health."

Continuing their commitment, the Keep Kanam Clean team visited Sabonlayi, Gyambar Ward, on March 24 to engage with residents on pressing water and sanitation concerns. Community members highlighted their struggles with accessing safe drinking water and urged the initiative to expand its support.

"We recognize the efforts of Keep Kanam Clean and appreciate their intervention," said one community leader. "However, we still lack a sustainable source of clean water and hope for further assistance."

As part of its ongoing mission, KKCI reaffirmed its dedication to fostering healthier environments and sustainable water access across Kanam.

"Together, we are making strides toward a cleaner and healthier future," Pangkwal added. "We will continue to work with local communities to ensure every resident has access to safe water."
