A high-powered fact-finding committee set up by Governor Caleb Mutfwang to look into the incessant attacks and wanton destruction of lives and properties in Plateau communities from 2001 to May 2025, have swung into action.

The 10-membership committee headed by Major Gen. Rogers Nicholas(rtd) alongside other committee members which in an efforts to enhance their mandate actualization intensify collaboration with the heads of various security agencies in the state.

The committee paid a visit to Plateau State Police Command Headquarters as well as the Plateau State Government security outfit, Operation Rainbow in Jos on Tuesday.

Gen. Nicholas confirmed the committee were in a fact finding mission which is the reason why they are going round interfacing with various security heads, community leaders, and victims respectively.

He said considering the magnitude of the assignment before them, the committee placed high premium in synergizing with all stakeholders which in turn aims to provide workable solutions that would enable government to end the menace.

Recalled, the committee were given 7-point terms of reference which includes; establish the number of communities that have been attacked from 2001 to May 2025, establish the approximate number of casualties, establish the number of communities affected and to what degree, establish the identities of the people that perpetrated the attacks and their possible motives and sponsors.

Others terms of reference for the committee onward consideration are;identify possible routes for bandits into the state and recommend measures to limit their access, recommend appropriate succour to identified victims and communities as well as make recommendations on how to stop further occurrences.

With two months ultimatum given to the committee, they encouraged members of the general to submit twelve (12) bound copies of memoranda on how, where and when they were affected but in tandem with above stipulated terms of reference as the deadline for submission is 7th June, 2025.

The committee also revealed that all submissions shall be addressed to the chairman facts finding committee on incessant attacks on Plateau communities, at Habibu I. Shuaibu lodge behind old Government House Rayfield, Jos, Plateau State.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, Plateau State Command, CP Emmanuel Adesina and Commander Operation Rainbow, Brigadier Gen. Gakji Goshwe Shipi rtd. while commending Governor Mutfwang's unwavering commitment towards addressing security concerns, promised to accord the committee all the necessary support needed to achieve it's goal.

The facts finding committee are expected to continues with the stakeholders familiarization visit on Wednesday.
