Plateau United Football Club of Jos, Staff Team were crown champions of the mini soccer tournament to usher in the celebration of Governor Caleb Mutfwang second year anniversary in office.
Second half strike by Isah Lenkat from the outside 18-yard box is all enough for the staff team of Plateau United to outclassed their opponent, Rock Hill Football Club of Jos in the grand finale, held at the Zaria Road stadium Jos on Wednesday.
The much anticipated soccer tournament powered by sports Dutchess foundation, witness the participation of top government functionaries and other spectators.
Earlier, Plateau United Staff Team defeated Plateau State Board of Internal Revenue team 4-0, while Rock Hill Football Club of trashed Government House Football team 2-0, in the semi finals.
However, there was a platinum match between team Secretary to the Government of Plateau State (SGS), Arch. Samuel Jatau, featured top government officials and captain by the chief of Staff Government House, Bldr. Jeremiah Satmak against Plateau State Board of Internal Revenue service team, in which team SGS edged Plateau State Board of Internal Revenue service team 2-1.
Speaking to newsmen, SGS Arch. Samuel Jatau affirm the victory as a testament of unity of oneness that exists in driving Governor Mutfwang's "The Time Is Now" vision and vision.
Underscoring the significance of sports as a unifying factor that bind people together, Jatau said the government is working round the clock to remodel Rwang Pam Township stadium to enable players go there.
Attention will now focus on completing the Zaria Road stadium Jos that was started since 1988 which if completed will attract a lot sporting activities in the facility.
Meanwhile, the mini soccer tournament coordinator, Mercy Yop Chuwang admits that the event aims to consolidate the achievements of Governor Mutfwang's administration- two years of peace,progress, and impactful leadership in the Plateau despite challenges.
Acenews online reports that the occasion heralded with the presentation of award of excellence to some distinguished personalities who have impacted lives in their various field endeavor.
Among the awardees are; Governor Caleb Mutfwang, the executive chairman Plateau State Board of Internal Revenue service- Dr. Jim Pam Wayas, General Manager Plateau United Football Club- Habila Hosea Mutla as well as the commissioner ministry of youths and sports- Ibrahim Musa Ashoms.
