Ethnic nationalities under the aegis of Mwaghavul Youth Movement (MYM) in Mangu local government area, Plateau State have disclosed that the series of unprovoked attacks by the terrorists resulted in the sacking of over 30 villages out of 103 affected communities in the locality.

MYM revealed they had displacement of over 65,000 villagers as well as grounding of 6,111 houses and, immense lose of over 600 lives aside properties.

The youth made the shocking revelation Friday while speaking to newsmen at NUJ Secretariat over what they described as baseless accusations by some persons of Fulani extraction and the need to correct some lies being peddled by them to serve as the basis for further attack on our people and land we would have ignored them.

Recalled, recently Fulani herders in Mangu and Bokkos local governments alleged that their cows were poisoned to death.

National President of MYM, Comrade Kyesmang Jonathan Yusuf, said "we know that such lies often precede coordinated attacks on our people which is why we are here today to inform the general public of their evil intentions against the State.

"As you well know the Mwaghavul Nation has been a victim of coordinated genocide committed by Fulani terrorists against our nation since 13th April, 2023. Although this genocide has become widespread in Nigeria, our local situation has been disturbing, given our shared mutual coexistence for decades.

"Conflict is intrinsic to every society, which is why there are institutional and traditional ways of settling grievances. Sadly, the Fulani marauders in our land chose the path of violence in settling their grievances. No where in the world has such strategies yielded positive results in conflict resolution", Jonathan noted.

He further acknowledged the leadership of their land has a zero tolerance for criminality.  Warned all criminals of whatever color or shades to stop using their land as a lunch path to criminality. "We will expose all criminals. This is our commitment to Nigeria and Plateau State.

"The use of herbicides  and other chemicals to protect  farms by our farmers is a common legitimate practice. We urge the Government to support our farmers in their efforts to protect their crops. We are also aware that herders use certain vaccines on their animals that make their consumption hazardous to human beings at certain window periods. There are best agricultural  practices among herders and farmers. The implications of these practices is that herders should educate their underaged children on the consequences of a deliberate abuse of farms that have been treated. Most adult herders know about this.

"We call on the Nigerian Army to investigate the recent destruction of crops by the Fulani in Mangu and attacks that claimed numerous lives and villages within Mangu and other LGAs of the State."

MYM national president also call for unity among all tribes on the Plateau to stand together against this common enemy, the terrorists and urge the Government to provide security, investigate where these terrorists come from, and arrest and prosecute them.
