----As Plateau Judiciary kickoff 2025/2026 legal year

Plateau State Governor, Barr. Caleb Mutfwang, has advocated for a continuous synergy between the Bar and the Bench to enhance more efficiency and strengthen the administration of justice system in Nigeria.

Governor Mutfwang reiterates his administration's unwavering commitment towards improving the condition of the judiciary as well as the entire justice system.

He made the pledged on Tuesday in Jos as Plateau State Judiciary, High Court of Justice kick started the 2025/2026 legal year ceremony in tandem with the legal year calendar nationwide.

Governor Mutfwang said since coming on board as a member of the Bar, he almost dispatched the request that have sending for them from the judiciary within the constraint of his administration limitations in regard to funding.

"I had directed the Accountant General to pay the remaining withheld entitlement of the retired Judges. We will continue to look into the welfare of not only the serving judicial officers, but to ensure that those who retired do not retire into misery.
"Our Judges are in a unique position to dispense justice. Justice to the victim, justice to the society, justice to the state but it is a very delicate assignment in which we can only pray for you and it is my sincere prayer that may God help you!"

Calling for renew commitment to the progress and development of Plateau by all citizens, Governor Mutfwang revealed they have conclude arrangement to recruit over 1,000 personnel into Operation Rainbow, the state owned security outfit.

"Yes the security challenge has continue to be a nightmare. We have been doing the much we can, continue seeking for wisdom and better ways of averting the situation and hopefully in the next two weeks we will be recruiting an additional 1,450 personnel into Operation Rainbow to augment the security situation in the state.

"I admonished citizens to always bring credible intelligence as I reiterate my commitment for state Police. I believe that the time for the creation of state Police is now. I therefore, urged the National Assembly not relent on this effort."

The Chief Judge of Plateau state, Hon. Justice David Mann, while underscore the significance of legal year ceremony, said it is an opportunity to reflect on the previous achievements and look at areas that need improvement.

According to him, "it is the ceremony that seeks all the divine guardians about all judicial matters to what Judges and Lawyers makes fair decision throughout the year. While acknowledging the growing complexity of modern day society which is constantly changing, this offers us the opportunity to witness the increasing challenges Judges face daily of upholding the solemn oath of office as they discharge their duties", Justice Mann stated.

The Chief Judge further mentioned that they have made a tremendous success in the areas of infrastructure and human capital development as well as jurisprudence in the under review.

They were goodwill messages by Pius Akubo, SAN who represent members of the inner Bar, Barr. Leah Hassan, chairman Nigeria Bar Association (NBA), Jos Branch and also Barr. Philemon Dafi the Attorney General of Plateau State and commissioner ministry of Justice.
