Speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Naanlong Daniel, was among dignitaries who graced the thanksgiving retirement reception in honour of Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Sunday Yitbial, who recently retired from the Nigeria Police Force after a meritorious service to the nation. The colourful event held at Ayo Kehinde Multipurpose Hall, Corona, Bukuru, Jos South Local Government Area.

Naanlong, who attended the occasion in  company of his wife, Mercy, principal officers, and other Members of the Plateau State House of Assembly, described the celebrant as a kinsman and elder brother whose dedication, patriotism, and gallantry distinguished him throughout his years of service. 

He said the occasion was not only a celebration of retirement, but a testimony of a successful career in the service of the fatherland.

Rt. Hon. Daniel, who led members and other dignitaries in a dance of thanksgiving to God which took place at the Ayo Makinde Multipurpose Hall, Corona, Bukuru, Jos South Local Government Area, remarked: “We are here to celebrate our brother who has reached the pinnacle of his career.

According to him "the Almighty God has brought you this far, but as you retire, remember that life in service is different from life in retirement, and therefore, one must learn to embrace the next phase of life with wisdom and humility.”

The Speaker commended DSP Yitbial for his role in mentoring and facilitating opportunities for sons and daughters of Mikang and Plateau State to secure enlistment into the Nigeria Police Force. He assured the celebrant of the Assembly’s commitment to continue to partner and rally round him in the collective pursuit of progress and development for the community and the state at large.

In his goodwill message, former Director of Press and Public Affairs to Governor Jonah Jang, James Mannock, who worked closely with the celebrant during the Jang administration, eulogized DSP Yitbial for his professionalism, discipline, and selfless dedication to duty noting that the celebrant served with distinction and left behind enduring legacies.

In his response, Retired DSP Sunday Yitbial expressed profound appreciation to the Speaker and Members of the Plateau State House of Assembly, family, friends, and well-wishers who honoured him on the occasion. He said the love and solidarity shown to him would remain a source of encouragement in his post-service life.

Until his retirement, DSP Sunday Yitbial was the Transport Officer of the Plateau State Command of the Nigeria Police Force after attaining the mandatory of 35 years of service.
