Our attention has been drawn to the above titled piece by one Shabul Mazudu, supposedly in reaction to our objective press conference held at the Jos NUJ Press Centre on Friday 5th December, 2025 expressing our incontrovertible position that, blocking Governor Mutfwang's alleged defection move to APC was not in the interest of the party.
While grappling to justify his hatchet job, Mazudu shot himself on the foot by ascribing to us a name we never called ourselves.
At no time have we called ourselves APC Legacy 'GROUP' neither have we claimed its membership.
We addressed the press in our capacity as Concerned Plateau APC Legacy Members. Our membership of the APC is not in doubt, neither is the root of our membership a subject of any controversy.
If Mazadu had read the text of the press conference with the mindset of assimilating the message, rather than challenging its content, he would have avoided the pitfalls of condescending to the level of making caricature of himself.
What is of utmost importance at this point is the fact that Shabul Mazadu has not disagreed with our irrefutable positions espoused in the advertorial, except that he fictionalized a claim that we are APC Legacy Group, rather than the Concerned Plateau APC Legacy Members, which we are.
We are not spokespersons of Governor Mutfwang, hence we cannot respond to Mazadu's delusional opinion about what the governor is or he is not. However, we must remind Mazadu that Lalong had made uncharitable remarks about Plateau people when he was governor, which had costed APC the goodwill of Plateau people. Comments like "farmers also carry weapons", "even Plateau Government House was built on cattle routes" and several other comments made by Lalong had gravely demarketed the APC, resulting in the outcome of the 2023 elections.
In order to measure the weight of Mutfwang's political capacity and its benefits to the APC, Mazudu should ask himself if any of the current APC heavyweights in Plateau, including the APC National Chairman, can leave the party with as much members as Mutfwang can bring along with him to APC, should they decide to leave APC today?
It is an indisputable fact that Nentawe is now the most prized asset of the Plateau APC by virtue of his current position, but before his entry into partisan politics in 2021,, APC was already the ruling party in the state.
Reminiscing how Plateau APC condescended to the abyss of political oblivion and crashed in the 2023 power play despite the incumbency factor and structural benefits at its disposal, is a cogent reason why Mutfwang must be accepted into APC to tap from his cult followership among Plateau voters.
Emmanuel A Dankasa,
Convener, Concerned Plateau APC Legacy Members.
