The Coalition for the Protection of Democracy (COPDEM), has 
warmly welcomes the presidential candidate of Labour Party in 2023 general elections Peter Obi into the African Democratic Congress (ADC), saying his defection marking a historic moment in Nigeria's democratic journey. 

The group acknowledged that Obi's move signifies a shift towards principled politics, integrity, and people-centered governance.

COPDEM national chairman, Prince Rwang Pam junior while addressing newsmen at NUJ secretariat in Jos on Thursday alongside members of the group said their support for ADC as an opposition party and Obi's personality is deliberate.

He said the coalition is a political action group that has the interest of Nigerians which moved into ADC to enhance mobilization across Nigeria for Obi and others coming to the party to make viral opposition.

"COPDEM with over 5 million members, pledges support to the ADC and Peter Obi, sharing values of democracy, social justice, and anti-corruption. 

"The ADC aims to build a movement driven by young people, workers, and marginalized groups, focusing on competence, character, and capacity in leadership", he mentioned.

 He also emphasizes unity, hope, and collective action towards a better Nigeria, inviting citizens to join COPDEM and be part of the struggle for a just and democratic nation come 2027.
