Speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Naanlong Daniel, has congratulated the Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Ayuku Pwaspo, on the occasion of her birthday anniversary, describing the celebrant as a shining symbol of professionalism, integrity, and excellence in journalism.
In a goodwill message, the Speaker extolled Pwaspo as Plateau’s finest resource journalist whose career trajectory reflects resilience, competence, and uncommon dedication to ethical reporting.
He noted that her emergence as the first woman to chair the NUJ in Plateau state stands as a historic milestone and a powerful inspiration to women in the media profession and beyond.
Rt. Hon. Daniel also highlighted her distinguished service at the Plateau Radio Television Corporation (PRTV), where she rose through the ranks to become Director of News and Current Affairs.
According to him, her exemplary leadership in the newsroom contributed immensely to credible news dissemination, public enlightenment, and the strengthening of public confidence in the media.
The Speaker further stated that the Tenth Assembly under his leadership has enjoyed tremendous cooperation, understanding, and professional support from journalists across the state, particularly in promoting the activities, legislative engagements, and people-oriented resolutions of the House.
He commended the NUJ leadership for fostering responsible journalism and sustaining a constructive partnership with the legislature.
Rt. Hon. Daniel assured of sustained and improved collaboration between the Assembly and the media, emphasizing that a vibrant, objective, and independent press remains indispensable to democratic growth, transparency, and good governance.
On behalf of the Principal Officers, Honourable Members, Management, and staff of the Plateau State House of Assembly, the Speaker prayed for greater wisdom, sound health, strength, and continued accomplishments for Mrs Ayuku Pwaspo as she marks another year of impactful service to Plateau State and the nation.
