Ambassador John Katura, the Managing Director/CEO of JOKATU Property Development Abuja, was honoured with the prestigious National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS),  Educational Equity Champion of the Year 2026 Award, on Saturday.

The event, which took place at the Yakubu Gowon University Abuja was the high point of the NANS Climate Summit 2026 - Nigeria’s largest convergence of student leaders.

The prestigious award is reserved for individuals who are not students, whose life and work have directly advanced access, equity, and quality in Nigerian education.

Organizers of the event made it categorically clear that Ambassador Katura's commitment to breaking barriers to education -  supporting indigent students, funding scholarships, and empowering young people with learning tools has distinguished him as a true friend of Nigerian students.

The organizers expressed their deep appreciation for his choice to be part of the solution at a time when education inequality remains a major challenge.

The Award was received by Barr. Paul Zaruma on behalf of Ambassador Katura.

While speaking to some journalists on Sunday evening, Ambassador Katura said he was deeply honoured and felt a profound sense of gratitude to have received the award.

"To me, this award isn't just a look back at past efforts; it is a reminder of the responsibility to keep growing and doing better. I share this moment with everyone who helped me along the way. Thank you Nigerian students for this wonderful encouragement".
