The Executive Governor of Plateau State, His Excellency, Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, Esq., has congratulated Mrs. Dorcas Gwani, Correspondent with the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN), on her election as Chairman of the Correspondents’ Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Plateau State Council.

In a congratulatory message, issued to Acenews online by Governor Mutfwang's Director of Press and Public Affairs, Dr. Gyang Bere, where he said the governor described Mrs. Gwani’s emergence as a reflection of the confidence her colleagues have reposed in her leadership qualities, professional competence, integrity and years of experience in journalism.

The Governor noted that her emergence as the second female Chairperson of the Chapel in several years is a significant milestone that underscores the growing recognition of the invaluable contributions of women to the journalism profession and leadership of the media.

He expressed confidence that Mrs. Gwani will bring her wealth of experience, knowledge and commitment to bear on her new responsibilities, while providing purposeful and inclusive leadership that will advance the interests of members of the Chapel.

Governor Mutfwang further expressed optimism that her tenure will strengthen professionalism, ethical journalism, responsible reportage and constructive engagement, recognising the media as a critical pillar of democracy and an indispensable partner in the pursuit of peace, good governance and sustainable development.

He urged Mrs. Gwani to use her new position to strengthen the bonds of unity and professional solidarity among members of the Chapel, uphold the integrity and credibility of the journalism profession and the NUJ, and contribute meaningfully to the growth of the media industry and the development of Plateau State.

The Governor wished Mrs. Gwani and the newly elected Executive a successful, impactful and rewarding tenure, assuring them of his administration’s continued recognition of and respect for the important role of the media in promoting accountability, development and the collective aspirations of the people.
