Plateau State police Command  on Wednesday has paraded seventeen suspects of various offences ranging from criminal conspiracy, armed robbery, culpable homicide and sexual abuse.


Addressing journalists at the Nigeria Police Force Headquarters, the Plateau state police commissioner, Isaac O.Akinmoyede said that the Command has successfully received and investigated cases of culpable homicide, armed robbery and other crimes within the period under review.

He said that in all the cases itemised, suspects who have direct link to the commission of the offences have been arrested.

In a case of criminal conspiracy, armed robbery and culpable homicide, Akinmoyede said that six suspects have been arrested.

“Arrest of six suspects in the case of Criminal Conspiracy, Armed Robbery and Culpable Homicide; On 7/02/2019 at about 2225hrs the Command received a report from the manager of Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (SGR) Silos Complex located at Zawan that on the same date at about 1215hrs their security man by name Yakubu Isuwa was killed and armoured electric cable carted away.

Immediately the report was received, detectives swung into action, visited the scene, did on the spot interview, photograph the corpse/scene before removing the corpse to the morgue. In the course of investigation, two suspects were arrested viz Faruk Aminu of Bukuru and Abraham Abdullahi (aka) Mugun Boss both male. After diligent and careful interrogation, Timothy Pykom, the suspect that slayed the deceased was arrested. This was followed by the arrest of Jonathan Joseph ‘m’ (aka) Big Joe the planner of the crime. His arrest led detectives to Daniel Akombo ‘m’ the suspect that provided the knife that was used in slicing the throat of the deceased. Subsequently, Auwalu Ali ‘m’ of Angwan Doki the driver of the vehicle that conveyed the exhibit (electric wires) to the receiver and Umar Faruk, who later moved the exhibits to Rabiu Adamu of Delimi were also arrested. The suspects have confessed to the commission of the crime.

In another case of criminal conspiracy, armed robbery and criminal intimidation, the CP said that three suspects have been arrested and would be charged to court soon.

“Arrest of three suspects in a case of Criminal Conspiracy, Armed Robbery and Criminal Intimidation; On 11/03/2019 at about 1650hrs a petition received from Mr. Philip Dalyop of Tudun Wada, Jos on a case of conspiracy and armed robbery was referred for investigation. The petitioner stayed that on 04/02/2019 one Patricia Felix ‘f’ invited him to meet her at West of Mine, Jos. He said from there she lured him to a house within West of Mines and secretly called three armed men who came to rob him of his wrist watch valued three hundred thousand naira (N300,000) and the cash sum of ten thousand naira (N10,000) only. He further reported that the armed robbers then stripped him naked and snapped his pictures using their handsets. The SARS investigating the case did not waste time in arresting the prime suspect, Patricia Felix.

Subsequently, Abraham Oko and Innocent Audu both male, were arrested. The gun used for the operation and the wrist watch of the complainant were also recovered. Effort is on to arrest one of their accomplice who is presently on the run.”

In another criminal conspiracy, armed robbery and culpable homicide, the Command said that it has arrested three suspects.
“Arrest of three suspects in the case of Criminal Conspiracy, Armed Robbery and Culpable Homicide; On 19/03/2019 at about 1030hrs the Command received a report from Promise Chigbundu of Bible Faith, Laranto area of Jos that on the 18/03/2019 at about 2130hrs, two armed men suspected to be cultist came to his elder brother’s barbing Saloon known as EDU BRAZIL located at Bible Faith, Laranto, Jos and shot him. He further stated that the armed men who killed his brother came on a Power Bike. He also stated that the killers after shooting his brother stole three of his handsets in the shop. The Police after the receipt of this report swung into action and arrested the prime suspect, one Chukwudi Okafor ‘m’. His arrest led to the arrest of two more suspects; Otega Ezekiel Benjamin and Mancha Weng. The suspects opened up during interrogation and led the police to where they kept their weapons after operation. At the armoury, one locally made pistol, one live cartridge, one cutlass and four phones were recovered. Out of the four phones, three belonged to the deceased. All the three suspects have confessed to the commission of the offence and have further stated that they are members of a cult group known as Black Axe.”

The CP also said that the Command has arrested a suspected kidnapper in Wase LGA.
“Arrest of one suspect in the case of Criminal Conspiracy and Abduction: On 17/02/2019 at about 1200hrs the command received a report from Timring Mulak of Kirim Village of Wase Local Government that Adamu Muhammed ‘m’ of Tudun Galadima in Wase LGA abducted his two daughters, Sadiya Adamu 6 years old and Amina Adamu 3 years. Detectives immediately swung into action and arrested suspect in the bush who claimed that he was contracted by one man in Ondo State to take the children there for ritual purposes.”

Meanwhile, in Langtang South, the police said that it has arrested a suspect who allegedly raped a pregnant woman, strangulated her and dumped her in a river.

“Arrest of a Suspect in the case of Rape and Culpable Homicide: On 28/02/2019 at about 0800hrs, Timring Napkur ‘m’ of Gangnim Village Langtang South Local Government attacked a 7- month old pregnant woman Zainab Abu at a riverside where she went to wash her cloths along with her two daughters. The suspect raped the victim, strangulated and pushed her into the river where she got drowned and died. The victim’s two daughters Aije 7-year old and Khadija 4-year old escaped and reported the crime to their father. The suspect has been arrested and he is undergoing investigation.


The Commissioner of Police said that all suspects would be charged to court very soon as he appealed to the members of the public to keep supporting the Command so as to rid the state off crimes.
