UPP, APC senatorial candidates file petitions at tribunal in Jos
The Plateau North Senatorial candidates of United Progressives Congress (UPP) Hon. Muhammad Sanusi Inuwa and that of the All Progressives Congress (APC), as well as Hon. Rufus Batrue have separately filed petitions at the tribunal.
It is confirmed that the candidates filed their petitions with the tribunal registry situated at the Plateau state High court, West in Jos, the Plateau state capital.
The petitioners are challenging the election of Hon. Istifanus Gyang of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP). While Inuwa is challenging the “unlawful exclusion of party logo,” on the ballot papers, Hon. Bature is challenging “irregularities,” in the conduct of the election.
In the petition, Hon. Gyang, is the 1st respondent, the PDP 2nd respondent and Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), is the 3rd respondent respectively.
Our correspondent reported that as at 2:40pm Monday, staff of the tribunal were busy certifying copies of the petitions, though the tribunal Secretary said they are not permitted to talk to press.
Other aggrieved candidates have also filed their petitions.
