Sixty five out of seventy two state executive council (SEC) members of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP in Plateau state have affirmed the suspension of the party chairman Damishi Sango and his deputy Amos Gombi.

The affirmation was done Monday, shortly after a seven man disciplinary committee led by Barrister Sunday Panwal and Pamson Dagyat as Secretary, was instituted to investigate the said party chieftains.

Acting chairman of PDP Hon Chris Hassan who constituted the seven man investigation committee, gave them a one month duration to submit it report to the party executives.

It will be recalled that the suspended party chairman Hon Damishi Sango, a former minister of sport was sent on an indefinite suspension on alleged irregularities in handing party funds, amounting to about 1.6 billion Naira.

Addressing Journalists shortly after the emergency SEC meeting held at the party secretary in Jos, a house of representative for Barkinladi/Riyom federal constituency Istifanus Gyang in an interview with Journalists said the suspension is not witch-hunt.

According to Hon Gyang, setting up of the committee to investigate the said party chieftain is to give fair hearing to the affected persons.

Hon Gyang who is the senator elect for Plateau north senatorial district, said the decision taken by SEC to suspend the party chairman and his deputy will not affect it tribunal cases instituted by the party against APC after the 2019 general elections.

The awaiting senator stressed further that the suspension on the chairman and his deputy will not negatively affect any case the party has instituted at the tribunals.

The outgoing house of representative member reiterated that the entire party is solidly behind it gubernatorial candidate, Senator Jeremiah Useni and was sure that PDP will be victorious at the tribunal.

Most serving federal lawmakers attended the state executive council meeting, they include Hon John-bull Shekaru, Hon Beni Lar, Hon Timothy Golu,  Hon Istifanus Gyang and some state house of assembly members were in attendance.
