The Executive Chairman of Jos North LGC, Hon. Shehu Bala Usman has asked the residents of the LGA to disregard the rumours making the rounds that Boko Haram will attack Jos, the Plateau State capital.
In a  press release made available to the Ace News Online reads in part that "the attention of the Jos North Local Government Council had been drawn to a baseless and unfounded rumour showing video recorded messages, going viral on the social media that the Islamic terrorist group,Boko Haram is planning to attack Christians in Jos.


The press release  further revealed that, "In a strong worded statement signed by the Management Committee Chairman of Jos North Local Government Council,Hon. Shehu Bala Usman, said the video going viral on a social media was released six years ago,he therefore, described the release of that same video now as baseless and unfounded, but a calculated attempt to derail the peace and tranquility currently being enjoyed in the locality".


The press release also said,"the chairman explained that the video in circulation purportedly by the insurgents is the handwork of mischief makers who are bent in bringing confusion and creating chaos among inhabitants of the locality" .


Usman noted that such type of rumours only exists in the realm of the authors imagination, who are bent on creating chaos in Jos which has being relatively peaceful since the assumption of the Rescue Administration under the leadership of Rt Hon Barrister Simon Bako Lalong, the Executive Governor of Plateau State and Chairman, Northern Governors Forum.


The statement recounts with delight the deliberate efforts put in place by Governor Lalong in restoring peace not only in Jos North Local Government Area, but the State at large, especially now that his administration has set up Peace and Security Committee, which has been at the vanguard of promoting peace and peaceful co-existenc in the locality.


The statement further called on the law abiding citizens of Jos North Local Government Area to disregard the false rumour by going about with the legitimate duties without any fear as all the security agencies are on red alert to nip in the  bud any breach of peace in the State.


The statement equally advised citizens to report suspicious movement of persons or group of persons to the security agencies for immediate and prompt action.


The statement further reassure citizens of the locality of  the Management Committee's commitment to protect lives and properties of law abiding citizens at anytime and urged them to go about their daily activities without any fear of molestation or attack from any quarter.
